Australia’s Bondi Sands is expanding with a rapid pace in the U.S. The latest outlet for the collection of self-tanners is on target.com, which kicked off availability this week.
That follows a strong launch in Ricky’s NYX last January and Beauty Collection in Southern California in June. Just after the online introduction, Bondi Sands is slated for a physical store rollout nationwide in Target. The chain will carry about 10 Bondi Sands items including self-tanning foams, gradual tanning milk and a wash-off instant tan. Prices range from $6 for a tanning mitt to $24 for a self-tanning mist.
Launched in 2012, Bondi Sands is the number-one selling self-tanner in Australia, according to company data. The brand was named after Bondi Beach in Sydney.
“Making our products available through Target is a huge step for Bondi Sands as we continue to grow the brand outside of Australia. We have seen fantastic feedback from our launches with Ricky’s NYC and Beauty Collection, and we are pleased to be working with Target to expand our reach across the U.S. both online and in-store,” said Noa Yeruham, chief executive officer of N2Z Global Group, the exclusive North America Distributor of Bondi Sands. Bondi Sands partnered with N2Z Global Group to oversee American distribution for their January 2016 U.S. launch. The brand continues to expand retail availability in North America with a confirmed launch at Hudson’s Bay stores in Canada in the near future.
Year-round sun care products, especially self-tanners, are the bright spot in sun care, buyers said. The category experienced sales increases of 3 percent to date in 2016, according to IRI, paced by items that provide a glow with or without the help of the sun. Chains are constructing more end caps that stay up all year instead of just hauling out sun care on a seasonal basis.
