Kosé Corp. has entered into a licensing agreement with Coty Inc. for the manufacturing and distribution of Adidas men’s beauty products in Japan, it was announced this week.

Starting in March, Kosé is to begin importing and making the Adidas products, which will include deodorants and facial washes sold primarily through drugstores. The items, each expected to be priced at less than 1,000 yen, or $11.05 at current exchange, will target mainly young men. The company expects Adidas will generate 6 billion yen, or $66 million, in annual retail sales by March 2012, according to Kazutoshi Kobayashi, Kosé’s president.

“We will have the World Cup next year,” he added. “People really enjoy sports and are really familiar with Adidas. [We are fortunate] to make our men’s cosmetics market larger.”

In other Kosé news, the firm’s Jill Stuart beauty license has new worldwide reach. Until now, it has been limited to Asia. The fashion brand’s fragrances and cosmetics are available in markets such as Taiwan and Mainland China. Kosé plans to expand Jill Stuart’s beauty business in Korea, as well.
