Dr. Shasa Hu

Dr. Brandt Skin Care is adding to its Skin Care Advisory Board and launching a new professional community program on its web site.

The advisory board was established last year to honor founder Dr. Fredric Brandt and his contributions to innovation in dermatology. The advisory board includes several high-profile skin-care specialists who have been identified for being outstanding in their fields. The newest member is Dr. Shasa Hu, a board-certified dermatologist and associate professor of dermatology and cutaneous surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Hu is also president of the Miami Society for Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery.

As a scientist, clinician and educator, Hu strongly believes in the importance of teaching patients and consumers about the science behind skin health. In particular, she has been aggressive in researching the early detection of skin cancer and melanoma prevention. “Dr. Hu is an excellent addition to the Dr. Brandt Skin Care Advisory, said Stephane Colleu, president and chief executive officer of Dr. Brandt Skin Care. “Her impressive credentials, wide-ranging knowledge and dedication to cutting-edge, science-based skin care are all perfectly aligned with Dr. Brandt’s lifelong pursuit of innovation and the brand’s tradition of scientific excellence.”

Hu earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University, her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine and completed her dermatology residency at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. She’s received awards and grants from the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the Dermatology Foundation, and has published several landmark studies to raise awareness about delayed melanoma diagnosis among Hispanics and skin of color. Hu also leads regular outreach efforts to increase the awareness of skin cancer prevention.

Additionally, Dr. Brandt is launching a Dr. B Pro-Artist Community Program on its web site. This is an exclusive program for professional makeup artists and members to receive special benefits, including a discount on and access to artistry-focused special programs. “ Celebrity and editorial makeup artists are always telling us how often they use our products on their clients,” said Colleu. “You can’t master a makeup look without first creating a flawless canvas, and that’s exactly what products like our Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer and Microdermabrasion formulas do. The Dr. B Pro-Artist Program will make it that much easier to put Dr. Brandt Skin Care into the hands of makeup artists who love and truly want to transform and improve the skin.”
