Sustainable lifestyle retailer Zady is branching out into selling beauty.

“In trying to lead a more natural lifestyle, within the office our attention would often turn to beauty,” said Maxine Bédat, cofounder and chief executive officer of Zady. “Launching The Beauty & Grooming Collection was the extension of those conversations and advice we were already giving to each other. There’s a movement that conscious consumers are making across industries to have real, natural ingredients that help us in our busy connected lives.”

The Beauty & Grooming Collection, rolling out online at now, is selected from Zady’s partners and all contain only natural, organic ingredients that are made in small batches with no unnecessary chemicals, said Bédat.

The collection includes aromatherapy, facial cleansers, facial oils, facial moisturizers, face masks, body oils, body moisturizers, body sprays, bathing salts, soaps, body polishes, shaving products, perfumes and colognes, lip moisturizers and candles, ranging in price from $16.50 to $145. Brands include Vitruvi, Ursa Major, Yoke Rasa, D.S. & Durga, Dr. Harris and Herbivore.

Beauty is one of several recent expansion areas for Zady, which added men’s private label apparel in October. As well, Soraya Darabi, who cofounded the firm with Bédat in August 2012, elected to step down from her day-to-day role at the company.
