LONDON  Alexander McQueen said it would take up full control of its McQ contemporary line as of the fall 2011 season.

Previously, Italian company SINV SpA produced the McQ range under license. A five-year manufacturing and licensing agreement expires with the spring 2011 line.

Pina Ferlisi, who was named creative director of McQ in June, will continue in that role under the leadership of Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen.

McQueen said Ferlisi would put together a team within the company to design the McQ line and that it would work with SINV to ensure “a smooth handover.”

“Following the successful five-year cooperation with SINV, McQ will become our responsibility alongside the core Alexander McQueen label, allowing us to share ideas and knowledge, expand the business and grow the already iconic brand,” stated Jonathan Akeroyd, president and chief executive officer of Alexander McQueen. “Over the past five years, McQ has established itself internationally with its young, renegade but always signature McQueen style and we are ready to take it to the next stage in its development.”
