Texworld USA and Apparel Sourcing USA will soon return to New York for its biannual three-day sourcing, networking and educational event, with a focus on local manufacturing and customization. Exhibitors will show collections for fall 2019 across the apparel fabric, trim and accessories sectors. The show takes place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center July 23 through 25.
This year’s event will feature more than 830 exhibitors from 19 countries that will present in 15 product categories, according to show organizers. New additions include the “Local Loft,” a platform comprised of fabric buyers, R&D specialists, designers and fashion companies, which has been introduced to meet the demand of attendees seeking domestic and locally sourced production facilities. Its selection highlights local and sustainable apparel factories, contractors and services, the firm said. The Local Loft will be constructed to imbue a “loft-life and annex look.”
And the show’s focus on bespoke trends takes form in how-to workshops, with offerings such as a make-and-take class on tassels, pom-poms and decorative knots, led by Jana Platina Phipps, a New York-based “embellishment expert” known as “Trim Queen,” and CraftJam, which will present three workshops for attendees to create their own embroidery wall art and patches.

Jennifer Bacon, the show director of fashion and apparel, Messe Frankfurt Inc., told WWD, “Over the last decade, the show has expanded.” She added that the summer edition’s “special feature areas and workshops emphasize the true art and history of customization in trims.”
Additional highlights include Apparel Sourcing USA’s “Spotlight” area, which homes in on “The Art of Customization: Findings, Trims & Accessories,” as well as expanded “Explore the Floor” series, in which attendees can scour the show for “hidden gems” and ethical apparel sourcing with seasoned experts; “Textile Talks” series led by firms such as StartUp Fashion, Brightlabel and the Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator; and various how-to workshops. Featured seminars include Pantone’s Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 color trend presentation; a microplastics panel; a Riverblue film screening, and several sustainability and preferred fibers discussions.
Its educational offerings are underscored in Resource Row, designed for attendees seeking complimentary industry resources, including business development tools, recycling solutions, trend forecasters and textile education materials, show organizers said. This year, Resource Row will feature six new additions, including Helpsy, Fashion Angel Warrior and NYC Fair Trade Coalition, according to the firm.
