Asian shares ended flat Wednesday, following a sell-off on Wall Street on renewed fears of a global economic slowdown.

Shanghai’s SSE inched down 0.08 percent to finish at 3,051 while Tokyo’s Nikkei fell 0.11 percent 0.11 percent to finish at 15,716. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fared slightly better, rising 0.15 percent to end at 20,207.

One of the day’s best performers, Chow Tai Fook rose 3.7 percent to end at 5.05 Hong Kong dollars. Shiseido gained 0.6 percent to end at 2,413 yen.

Esprit slid 2.1 percent to finish at 6.97 Hong Kong dollars. Fast Retailing, which reports second-quarter figures Thursday, fell 1.2 percent to end at 31,640 yen.
