Asian shares ended mixed Monday as investors awaited inflation data out of the U.S. and potential news of an interest rate hike.
Shanghai’s SSE shed 0.7 percent to close at 2,958 while Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.8 percent to end at 17,134. Hong Kong and European markets were closed Monday for the Easter holiday.
Fast Retailing slid 0.7 percent to finish at 36,150 yen. Shiseido gained 1.5 percent to finish at 2,586 yen. Onward Holdings and Takashimaya, both due to report full-year earnings in the coming weeks, saw their shares gain in the session. Onward climbed 1.2 percent to 774 yen while Takashimaya jumped 5.2 percent to end at 968 yen.
