BERLIN – Beiersdorf AG reported that its third-quarter earnings before interest and taxes rose 16 percent to 167 million euros, or $215.5 million.
The Hamburg-based cosmetics and adhesives company’s sales in the three-month period ended Sept. 30 increased 8.7 percent to 1.53 billion euros, or $1.98 billion. Dollar figures are converted at average exchange rates for the period to which they refer.
Beiersdorf’s consumer division, which includes brands Nivea, Eucerin and La Prairie, posted third-quarter sales growth of 7.6 percent to 1.3 billion euros, or $1.68 billion.
In the nine months ended Sept. 30, Beiersdorf’s net profit was 353 million euros, or $464.9 million, up 22.1 percent versus the same prior-year period. Group sales rose 8.1 percent to 4.7 billion euros, or $6.19 billion. Adjusted for currency-translation effects, revenues grew 4 percent.
Beiersdorf’s consumer division’s sales increased 6.3 percent to 4.05 billion euros, or $5.33 billion in the nine months. Adjusted for currency-translation effects, the uptick was 2.3 percent.
