NEW YORK — Bell Atlantic International has signed agreements with STET, the Italian telecom holding company, and its subsidiary, SIP, Italy’s operating telephone company, to test interactive multimedia TV — including Bell Atlantic’s Stargazer — in Italy and other foreign markets.

The Stargazer system offers video-on-demand, banking and home shopping. It has been tested in northern Virginia and will be introduced in the Washington, D.C., area next year.

Bell Atlantic and STET are also working on agreements that would allow Bell Atlantic to purchase up to 49 percent of STREAM, the STET subsidiary for interactive multimedia services.
