Cherokee Inc., a California-based licensor and manager of several brands such as Cherokee, Sideout and Carole Little, said today that it hired Goldman, Sachs & Co. to help it explore options for increasing shareholder value, including a possible sale of the company.

Cherokee said in a statement that it would not further comment until Goldman Sachs completes its analysis and its own board approves any transaction, “if that occurs.”

Cherokee has licensing agreements with companies such as Target Stores in the U.S.; Tesco in the U.K., Ireland, Asia and Europe, and Zellers in Canada.
