NEW YORK — Cutter & Buck Inc., which primarily sells golf-related apparel under the Cutter & Buck name, has named Ernie Johnson to the post of chief executive officer and to the company’s board.

Johnson, 55, was most recently senior vice president and chief financial officer.

In addition, the firm named Kaia Akre as president of the Seattle-based firm, Michael Gats has been named vice president and chief financial officer and Jon Runkel was named vice president of global sourcing and distribution.

These moves are part of a reorganization after the resignation of ceo Tom Wyatt. Officers in charge of operational departments will report directly to Johnson, with the product and consumer-related departments reporting to Akre. Akre will report to Johnson.

The chief operating officer post was eliminated. Bill Swint, who has been vice president and chief operating officer, has left the company.

Akre, 42, joined the company in January to oversee its strategic marketing initiatives. Earlier, she was at Nordstrom, where she held a variety of posts in the product development division in areas of creative resources, strategic planning and brand marketing.

Gats, 47, joined C&B in June 1999 as director of retail finance and has since served as controller and director of reporting and analysis. Runkel, 49, joined the firm in 1995 and has served as director of operations and as a vice president.
