PARIS — Brazilian billionaire Abilio dos Santos Diniz has upped his stake in Carrefour to 5.07 percent, according to a filing with France’s stock market regulator AMF on Thursday.

Through his company Stanhore Trading International Srl, he now holds 37,259,506 shares in the French retail giant. Diniz has 4.49 percent of its voting rights.

It is understood that he formerly had a 2.4 percent stake in Carrefour and, with the increased holding, is now its fourth largest shareholder after the Moulin family, Groupe Arnault and Colony Capital.
