NEW YORK — Donna Karan International has tapped Cathy Volker as executive vice president of its licensing group. Volker succeeds Anne Marino, who left the company to join Tommy Hilfiger Corp. as executive vice president, global licensing, in April.
Volker is no stranger to DKI. In 1986, as vice president of Sara Lee Corp., she negotiated and signed Karan’s first license, which was for hosiery. She became chief executive officer of Sara Lee Hosiery in 1996, and left the company in 1998 to become ceo of Danskin. In 2000, she joined Esprit Brands as president, and directed its sportswear, girls’, apparel, footwear and accessories divisions. Most recently, Volker was an industry consultant, working with clients such as American Eagle Outfitters, where she helped develop the retail chain’s intimates and personal care strategy.
At DKI, her responsibilities include overseeing the company’s global licensing network for both Donna Karan Collection and DKNY. She reports to Jeffry Aronson, DKI’s ceo.
