BERLIN — Sales at Douglas Group rose 4.5 percent to 1.2 billion euros, or $1.63 billion, in its first quarter ended Dec. 31.
Domestic growth once again fueled gains at Hagen, Germany-based Douglas, whose activities include Douglas Perfumeries and retailers of books, confectionary and jewelry. Total sales in Germany rose 5.5 percent.
Elsewhere, revenues increased 2.7 percent. Douglas Perfumeries’ 1,205 doors logged a 2.8 percent uptick in sales. The 445 domestic stores posted a 4.8 percent gain.
Douglas also reported that its net profits for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30 increased 21 percent to 76.1 million euros, or $103.3 million. The company’s net sales rose 3.7 percent to 3.32 billion euros, or $4.48 billion.
