LONDON — European stock markets were down in late morning trading on Thursday with the FTSE 100 in London leading the way.
The British market dipped 0.3 percent to 7,410.88, followed by the CAC 40 in Paris, the DAX in Frankfurt and the FTSE MIB in Milan, which were all down 0.2 percent to 5,167.97; 12,240.14; and 21,940.80, respectively.
The euro traded at $1.17, while the pound fetched $1.29 and the Swiss franc equaled $1.03 at 12:00 noon CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest fallers including Italia Independent Group, 2.2 percent to 5.02 euros; Safilo Group, 1 percent to 5.89 euros; and MySale Group, 1.2 percent to 1.03 pounds.
Among the morning’s biggest gainers were Gemfields, which was up 2 percent to 0.32 pounds; French Connection Group, 2.5 percent to 0.41 pounds; Mulberry, 5.9 percent to 11.01 pounds and Tod’s, 2.1 percent to 59.70 euros.
