LONDON — Europe’s major markets were on the upswing in mid-morning trading on Wednesday, as were retail and luxury stocks.
The FTSE 100 in London, CAC 40 in Paris and DAX in Frankfurt all rose 0.4 percent – to 7,394.10, 5,122.88 and 12,188.21, respectively. The FTSE MIB in Milan climbed 0.3 percent to 20,177.01.
The euro traded at $1.06, while the pound fetched $1.24 and the Swiss franc equaled $1.00 at 11:35 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury socks also advanced, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Koovs.com, up 1.4 percent to 0.46 pounds; Gemfields, 1.6 percent to 0.43 pounds; and MySale Group, 1.6 percent to 1.09 pounds.
Among the few stocks that lost ground were Tesco, 3.6 percent to 1.89 pounds; and Salvatore Ferragamo, 0.7 percent to 27.97 euros.
