LONDON – Europe’s major markets were on the upswing in mid-morning trading on Thursday, with exception of the FTSE MIB in Milan, which was down 0.2 percent to 21,318.71.

The CAC 40 in Paris climbed 0.4 percent to 5,361.26, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt, 0.2 percent to 12,660.33 and the FTSE 100 in London, 0.1 percent to 7,520.26.

The euro traded at $1.12, while the pound fetched $1.30, and the Swiss franc equaled $1.02 at 11:55 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Burberry, 1.2 percent to 17.73 pounds;, 1.3 percent to 63.89 pounds, and Britain’s Bonmarché Holdings, 2.1 percent to 0.98 pounds.

Among the morning’s biggest fallers were Ted Baker, 1.6 percent to 24.76 pounds; Gemfields, 3.4 percent to 0.35 pounds; Mulberry, 4.4 percent to 10.35 pounds; and Salvatore Ferragamo, 1.3 percent to 26.51 euros.
