LONDON — European stock markets were down in mid-morning trading on Thursday.

The FTSE 100 in London declined 0.7 percent to 7,201.55, followed by the FTSE MIB in Milan, which fell 0.5 percent to 19,257.29. The DAX in Frankfurt and the CAC 40 in Paris each retreated 0.1 percent to 11,595.83 and to 4,846.88, respectively.

The euro traded at $1.06, while the pound fetched $1.23 at 11:30 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were mixed, with the morning’s biggest risers including Koovs, up 2.1 percent to 0.48 pounds; MySale Group, 2 percent to 1.25 pounds, and Burberry Group, 1.2 percent to 16.70 pounds.

Among the morning’s biggest fallers were Bonmarché Holdings, down 2.7 percent to 0.76 pounds; Essilor International, 1.4 percent to 11.90 euros, and Yoox Net-a-porter Group, 1 percent to 28.20 euros.
