LONDON — European stock markets were down in midmorning trading on Monday.
The CAC 40 in Paris and the DAX in Frankfurt both declined 0.2 percent, to 5,507.21 and 13,453.44, respectively. The FTSE 100 in London and the FTSE MIB in Milan both were down 0.1 percent, to 7,548.23 and 22,970.11, respectively.
The euro traded at $1.16, while the pound fetched $1.30 and the Swiss franc equaled 99 cents at 10:45 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest declines being from Swatch Group, 2.5 percent to 73.15 Swiss francs; Italia Independent Group, 2.2 percent to 4.97 euros, and Bonmarché Holdings, 1.5 percent to 0.93 pounds.
Among the morning’s biggest risers were Joules Group, 3.2 percent to 2.86 pounds; Boohoo.com, 2 percent to 2.05 pounds, and French Connection Group, 1.1 percent to 0.45 pounds.
