LONDON — European stock markets were on the upswing in morning trading on Tuesday.
The DAX in Frankfurt was up 0.9 percent to 12,205.26, while the CAC 40 in Paris and FTSE MIB in Milan both rose 0.4 percent, to 5,123.07 and 21,886.86, respectively. The FTSE 100 in London advanced 0.3 percent to 7,430.10.
The euro traded at $1.18, while the pound fetched $1.29 at 11:00 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly on the rise with the morning’s biggest gainers including Gemfields, up 2 percent to 0.32 pounds; Marks and Spencer Group, 1.7 percent to 3.26 pounds, and MySale Group, 1.6 percent to 1.02 pounds.
Among the stocks that lost ground was Italia Independent Group, down 1.7 percent to 5.01 euros; Koovs, 1.2 percent to 0.41 pounds, and Mulberry Group, 0.8 percent to 10.84 pounds.
