LONDON — European stock markets were on the rise in midmorning trading on Tuesday, with the DAX in Frankfurt leading the way.

The German market climbed 1.1 percent to 9,599.57, followed by the FTSE MIB in Milan and the FTSE 100 in London, which were both up 0.3 percent to 17,668.97 and to 6,115.90, respectively. The CAC 40 in Paris rose 0.2 percent to 4361.52.

The euro traded at $1.09, while the pound fetched $1.39 and the Swiss franc equaled $1.00 at 11:00 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were also on the uptick, with the morning’s biggest risers including, 2.2 percent to 0.42 pounds; Burberry Group, 2.2 percent to 13.49 pounds; Adidas, 1.4 percent to 99.81 euros, and Zalando, 1.9 percent to 29.53 euros.

Among the few stocks that lost ground in midmorning trading were Italia Independent Group, 2.1 percent to 23.00 euros; and Mulberry Group, 2 percent to 9.75 pounds.
