PARIS — European stock markets put on an uneven performance in midday trading on Tuesday.
The FTSE 100 in London advanced 0.56 percent to 6,068.54, followed by the FTSE MIB in Milan, up 0.19 percent to 21,139.71.
But the German market was down 0.13 percent to 10,483.15, while the CAC 40 in Paris remained flat at 4,565.29.
The euro traded at $1.1, while the pound fetched $1.5, and the Swiss franc equaled $1.00 at 12:15 p.m. CET.
Most retail and luxury stocks also put on a mixed show with midday’s biggest gainers including French Connection Group, 4.9 percent to 36.46 pounds; Esprit Holdings, 2.1 percent to 8.2 pounds, and Boohoo.com, 2 percent, to 34.4 pounds.
Among the stocks that lost ground were MySale Group, 1.9 percent to 45.6 pounds; Marks & Spencer Group, 1.54 percent to 441 pounds, and Geox SpA, 1.52 to 3.9 euros.
