LONDON — European stocks logged modest gains in morning trading on Wednesday.
The DAX in Frankfurt advanced 1.3 percent to 11,744.31, followed the CAC 40 in Paris, which gained 1 percent to 4,878.14. The FTSE 100 in London rose 0.2 percent to 7,165.08, and the FTSE MIB in Milan increased 0.1 percent to 19,533.72.
The euro traded at $1.07, pound at $1.24, the Swedish krona at $0.11 and the Swiss franc at $1.00 at 11:45 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Koovs, 4.3 percent to 0.47 pounds; Hennes & Mauritz, 2.7 percent to 240 Swedish kronor, and Swatch Group, 2 percent to 69.35 Swiss francs.
Among the stocks that lost the most ground were Mulberry Group, 5.8 percent to 10.46 pound; Yoox Net-a-porter, 4.9 percent to 24.47 euros, and MySale Group, 4.8 percent to 1.12 pounds.
