LONDON — Europe’s major markets seesawed in midmorning trading on Wednesday.

The FTSE 100 in London was up 0.7 percent to 6,865.44, while the FTSE MIB in Milan fell 0.8 percent to 16,393.60. The CAC 40 in Paris and the DAX in Frankfurt were flat at 4,548.35 and 10,712.66 respectively.

The euro traded at $1.06, while the pound fetched $1.25 and the Swiss franc equaled $0.99 at 10:15 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Joules Group, 3.4 percent to 1.80 pounds; French Connection, 1.8 percent to 0.35 pounds;, 1.4 percent to 50.71 pounds, and Hennes & Mauritz, 1.5 percent to 272.30 Swedish kronor, or $29.53.

Among the stocks that lost the most ground were Jimmy Choo, down 1.2 percent to 1.30 pounds; and Swatch Group, 1.1 percent to 55.40 Swiss francs.
