LONDON — European stock markets logged modest gains in morning trading on Tuesday.

The FTSE MIB in Milan advanced 1 percent to 21,107.78, followed the DAX in Frankfurt, which gained 0.6 percent to 12,766.86. The CAC 40 in Paris rose 0.5 percent to 5,268.82, and the FTSE 100 in London increased 0.2 percent to 7,527.50.

The euro traded at $1.12, the pound at $1.27 and the Danish krone at $0.15 at 11:15 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the morning’s biggest gainers including, 4.8 percent to 0.34 pounds;, 4 percent to 2.54 pounds, and Pandora, 3.4 percent to 663.50 Danish kroner.

Among the stocks that lost the most ground were Gemfields, 3 percent to 0.34 pounds; Joules 1.4 percent to 2.95 pounds, and Safilo Group, 1.3 percent to 6.65 euros.
