LONDON — European stock markets were on the rise in morning trading on Friday.
The CAC 40 in Paris advanced 0.7 percent to 5,122.33. The DAX in Frankfurt and the FTSE MIB in Milan both rose 0.4 percent, to 12,101.72 and 21,758.64, respectively, while the FTSE 100 in London gained 0.2 percent to 7,447.68.
The euro traded at $1.18 and the pound fetched $1.29 at 9:30 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were also on the upswing. The morning’s biggest risers included MySale Group, which advanced 4 percent to 1.01 pounds; Aeffe, 3.7 percent to 1.83 euros, and Gemfields, 2 percent to 0.32 pounds.
Among the few stocks that lost ground were Safilo Group, down 1.6 percent to 5.37 euros; Carrefour, 1.5 percent to 16.67 euros, and Ted Baker, 1.4 percent to 24.60 pounds.
