LONDON — European stock markets gained modest ground in morning trading on Friday, with the exception of the CAC 40 in Paris, which fell 0.07 percent to 4,536.73.
The FTSE 100 in London was up 0.2 percent to 7,041.14, while the DAX in Frankfurt advanced 0.1 percent to 10,714.58 and the FTSE MIB in Milan gained 0.1 percent to 17,140.86.
The euro traded at $1.09, while the pound fetched $1.22 and the Danish krone equaled $0.14 at 12:30 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Burberry Group, 1.9 percent to 14.78 pounds; Danish jeweler Pandora, 1.5 percent to 909 kroner and French Connection Group, 1.3 percent to 0.32 pounds.
Among the stocks that lost the most ground were Mulberry Group, 1.9 percent to 10.88 pounds; Zalando, 1.6 percent to 39.74 euros, and Joules Group, 1.2 percent to 1.94 pounds.
