LONDON – Europe’s major markets made small gains in mid-morning trading on Friday, with the exception of the CAC 40 in Paris, which was broadly flat at 5,291.13.

The FTSE 100 in London rose 0.6 percent to 7,363.24, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt, 0.2 percent to 12,733.82, and the FTSE MIB in Milan, 0.1 percent to 22,607.42.

The euro traded at $1.18, while the pound fetched $1.34, and the Swiss franc equaled $1.03 at 10:50 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Italia Independent Group, 1.4 percent to 5.09 euros; Hugo Boss, 1 percent to 74.49 euros; Burberry, 1.7 percent to 17.63 pounds; and Swatch Group, 1.5 percent to 76.90 Swiss francs.

Among the biggest fallers were, 7.8 percent to 0.27 pounds;, 1.3 percent to 59.52 pounds;, 1.1 percent to 2.11 pounds; and French Connection, 1.1 percent to 0.44 pounds.
