LONDON — Europe’s major markets lost ground in morning trading on Wednesday, with the exception of the FTSE 100 in London, which was up 0.3 percent to 7,379.57.
The CAC 40 in Paris was down 0.2 percent to 5,166.60, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt and the FTSE MIB in Milan, which both fell 0.1 percent 12,425.89 and to 21,025.38, respectively.
The euro traded at $1.14, while the pound fetched $1.29 at 9:35 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the morning’s biggest risers including Adidas, 2.8 percent to 173.05 euros; Moncler, 2.1 percent to 20.79 euros; Boohoo.com, 1.3 percent to 2.31 pounds; Tesco, 1.6 percent to 1.70 pounds, and Yoox Net-a-porter Group, 2.5 percent to 25.10 euros.
Among the few stocks to lose ground were Koovs.com, 9 percent to 0.36 pounds, and Joules Group, 3.3 percent to 2.94 pounds.
