LONDON — Europe’s markets all made tentative gains in trading Thursday morning.
The FTSE MIB in Milan climbed 0.6 percent to 19,043.26, while the DAX in Frankfurt was up 0.3 percent to 9,376.50 and the CAC 40 in Paris rose 0.2 percent to 4,301.17. The FTSE 100 in London edged up 0.1 percent to 6,658.73.
Luxury stocks put in a positive performance. Ferragamo gained 1.4 percent to 29.18 euros, while Swatch Group rose 1.3 percent to 103.60 Swiss francs. LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton was up 0.8 percent to 141.50 euros and Hermès was up 0.6 percent to 253.10 euros.
Shares in retailers, however, had a less upbeat morning. French Connection lost 2.2 percent to 0.38 pounds, while Hennes & Mauritz fell 0.3 percent to 278.90 Swedish kroner.
The euro traded for $1.36, while the pound went for $1.62 and the Swiss franc for $1.10.
