LONDON — European stocks were on the upswing in midmorning trading on Friday, with the exception of the FTSE 100 in London, which was broadly flat at 6,525.66.

The FTSE MIB in Milan climbed 2.2 percent to 15,778.60, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt, 1 percent to 9508.44, and the CAC 40 in Paris, 0.8 percent to 4,149.42.

The euro traded at $1.11, while the pound fetched $1.29 and the Swiss franc equaled $1.02 at 12:15 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest risers including Jimmy Choo, 3.5 percent to 1.10 pounds; Debenhams, 7 percent to 0.57 pounds; Tod’s, 3.4 percent to 47.58 euros, and Koovs.com, 2.4 percent to 0.56 pounds.

Among the stocks that lost the most ground were Britain’s Bonmarche Holdings, 3 percent to 1.05 pounds; Adidas, 1.1 percent to 125.15 euros, and L’Oreal, 1 percent to 170.65 euros.
