LONDON — European stock markets were on the uptick in midmorning trading on Monday, with the DAX in Frankfurt leading the way.

The German market rose 1.9 percent to 10,055.84; followed by the CAC 40 in Paris, 1.3 percent to 4,356.08, and the FTSE 100 in London, 0.7 percent to 6,170.38. The FTSE MIB in Milan was up 0.1 percent to 17,859.02.

The euro traded at $1.14 while the pound fetched $1.44 and the Swiss franc $1.03 at 11:45 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Inditex, 2.6 percent to 28.25 euros;, 2 percent to 36.79 pounds; Beiersdorf AG, 2.6 percent to 80.29 euros, and MySale Group, 3.4 percent to 0.58 pounds.

Among the few stocks that lost ground were Aeffe, 1.4 percent to 1.06 euros; Brunello Cucinelli, 1.5 percent to 17.29 euros; Tod’s, 1.9 percent to 58.20 euros;, 1.9 percent to 0.27 pounds, and French Connection Group, 2.2 percent to 0.39 pounds.
