LONDON — Europe’s stock markets were in retreat in late morning trading on Friday, while the FTSE 100 in London was flat at 7,305.81.

The DAX in Frankfurt was down 0.6 percent to 12,157.26, followed by the CAC 40 in Paris, 0.4 percent to 5,100.95, and the FTSE MIB in Milan, 0.2 percent to 20,259.51.

The euro traded at $1.07, while the pound fetched $1.25 and the Swiss franc equaled $1.00 at 11:50 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest climbers including SuperGroup, 1.8 percent to 15.00 pounds; Italia Independent Group, 2.1 percent to 4.59 euros, and Tesco, 1.3 percent to 1.88 pounds.

Among the biggest fallers were Essilor International, 1.1 percent to 111.90 euros; Next, 1.2 percent to 39.95 pounds; Carrefour, 2.6 percent to 21.08 euros, and Salvatore Ferragamo, 1.9 percent to 27.90 euros.
