It was an active day for fashion in the stock market.
The three top-performing stocks in the 100-issue WWD Global Stock Tracker all specialize in activewear — a hot category that’s been taking market share from denim and others.
Under Armour Inc. led the way, jumping 14.7 percent to $69.55 after the company posted a stronger than expected 34.1 percent gain in second-quarter sales. The company is focusing increasingly on its women’s business and expanding in another areas, such as footwear and internationally.
Filling out the top three were Lululemon Athletica Inc., up 5.2 percent to $39.50, and Anta Sports Products Ltd., ahead 3.6 percent to 12.62 Hong Kong dollars, or $1.63.
Overall, the Tracker increased 0.4 percent to 99.76 as markets around the world mostly logged gains, despite a slight dip for the much-watched Dow Jones Industrial Average, which dipped 0.02 percent to 17,083.80.
Among the indices gaining ground were the FTSE MIB in Milan, up 2 percent to 21,255.60, and the CAC 40 in Pars, up 0.8 percent to 4,410.65.
