LONDON — European stock markets were on the uptick in mid-morning trading on Wednesday.
The CAC 40 in Paris and the FTSE MIB in Milan led the way, climbing 0.7 percent to 4,337.69 and to 20,573.51 respectively, while the DAX in Frankfurt advanced 0.5 percent to 9,768.37, and the FTSE 100 in London moved up 0.5 percent to 6,741.15.
The euro traded at $1.36 against the dollar, while the pound fetched $1.71, and the Swiss franc equaled $1.12 at 10:05 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the exception of Mysale.com, which fell 3.1 percent to 2.12 pounds; French Connection Group, 1.2 percent to 0.63 pounds; and Koovs, 1.1 percent to 1.40 pounds.
Among the morning’s biggest gainers were Yoox Group, 2.2 percent to 19.51 euros; Salvatore Ferragamo, 2.9 percent to 20.92 euros; and Italia Independent Group, 3 percent to 31.99 euros.
