LONDON — European stock markets put on a mixed show during morning trading on Wednesday.
The CAC 40 in Paris climbed 0.3 percent to 5,188.01, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt, 0.1 percent to 12,445.76. The FTSE MIB in Milan fell 0.1 percent to 21,357.04, while the FTSE 100 in London was broadly flat at 7,390.46.
The euro traded at $1.15 and the pound fetched $1.30 at 10:30 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly on the rise with the morning’s biggest gainers including Britain’s Bonmarché Holdings, 1.1 percent to 0.90 pounds; Salvatore Ferragamo, 0.8 percent to 23.94 euros, and Asos.com, 0.6 percent to 56.70 pounds.
Among the few stocks that lost ground were Mulberry Group, 2.3 percent to 10.37 pounds; Gemfields 0.8 percent to 0.30 pounds, and Italia Independent Group, 0.7 percent to 4.84 euros.
