LONDON — Europe’s major markets made modest gains in mid-morning trading on Monday, with the FTSE MIB in Milan and the DAX in Frankfurt leading the way.

The Italian and German markets were up 0.6 percent to 21,135.74, and to 12,457.10, respectively, followed by the CAC 40 in Paris, 0.3 percent to 5,158.54, and the FTSE 100 in London, 0.3 percent to 7,369.23.

The euro traded at $1.14, while the pound fetched $1.29 at 10:30 a.m. CET.

Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Aeffe, 1.4 percent to 1.71 euros;, 1.7 percent to 58.09 pounds; Moncler, 1.1 percent to 20.77 euros, and Unilever, 1.4 percent to 48.73 euros.

Among the morning’s biggest fallers were Mulberry Group, 1 percent to 10.55 pounds, and Yoox Net-a-porter Group, 2.2 percent to 25.49 euros.
