Fanatics, the world’s largest retailer of licensed sports merchandise, has hired longtime Nike executive Michener (Mich) Chandlee to be its new chief financial officer.
Chandlee, a 30-year veteran of global finance who spent the last 18 years with Nike, will oversee business and financial planning, accounting, investor relations, purchasing, tax, treasury and divisional finance for the company.
He will be based in the company’s West Coast office and will report to Fanatics’ chief executive officer Doug Mack.
“As Fanatics continues to rapidly scale into a leading global, vertical, customer-focused brand, Mich brings an ideal skill set and experience base to lead and scale our finance organization ahead,” said Mack. “He understands the economics of the sports apparel industry and the power of product, brand, technology and channel innovation — which are key as he guides our financial future. Mich has a reputation for being a high-collaborative business partner, so we’re thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Chandlee, who served most recently as vice president of corporate audit and chief risk officer for Nike, will work to extend Fanatics’ v-commerce capabilities to deliver products to fans worldwide. In 2020, Fanatics will begin manufacturing and distributing all Nike NFL and MLB fan gear across all retail channels.
