NEW YORK — Haggar Clothing Co. has appointed Edward M. Jones 3rd to chief merchandising officer of women’s and men’s wear. He will remain president and creative director of women’s wear.

In his expanded role, Jones will be responsible for all merchandising and design operations for both women’s and men’s wear. This includes all product categories, for all channels of distribution.

Prior to joining Haggar in April, Jones was chairman and chief executive officer of GM Design Group Ltd., which was recently sold to Harvé Benard Ltd. Jones also oversaw the repositioning and expansion of the Sigrid Olsen brand and was the chief architect of the segmentation of the Perry Ellis brand. Jones continues as chairman of his consulting firm, Jones Texas Inc., which specializes in brand positioning, strategic planning, product development and image consulting.

In another move, David Yarbrough has been promoted to president of men’s and women’s wear sales. Yarbrough continues to direct the sales operations of all brands in the Haggar portfolio, including Haggar, Kenneth Cole Reaction, Kenneth Cole Unlisted, Claiborne and the company’s private label brands.

Prior to joining Haggar in April, Yarbrough was executive vice president at Perry Ellis International, where he was responsible for operations, sales, merchandising and sourcing for the firm’s Tropical Sportswear brand. He also oversaw the acquisition, transition and merger of Tropical Sportswear into Perry Ellis International. Earlier, he was senior vice president of the private brands division at Haggar. He also served as president of sales at B.U.M. Equipment U.S.A.

Also, Rebecca Maticko has been named vice president of public relations at Haggar. Earlier, she was vice president of marketing at Earl Jean.

Jones and Yarbrough continue to report to Jim Lewis, Haggar’s president and ceo. Maticko reports to Stephen Croncota, chief marketing officer.
