PARIS — Inter Parfums SA’s first-quarter sales rose 24.6 percent to 110.8 million euros, or $145.1 million, driven in part by stronger-than-expected demand for Montblanc and Jimmy Choo fragrances.


At constant exchange rates, revenues at the Paris-based subsidiary of Inter Parfums Inc. gained 22 percent during the first three months of this year.

Montblanc’s sales spiked 77.4 percent to 11 million euros, or $14.4 million, due to the Montblanc Legend line. Meanwhile, Jimmy Choo’s revenues increased 68.6 percent to 11.8 million euros, or $15.5 million, thanks to the brand’s signature eau de toilette. Other strong gainers in Inter Parfums’ fragrance portfolio included Burberry, Lanvin and S.T. Dupont, each of which registered 12 percent sales growth.


On a geographic basis, Inter Parfums SA’s North American business was up 68 percent as a result of commercial efforts by the company’s U.S. subsidiary, Inter Parfums Luxury Brands. Growth in the Middle East was 35 percent, while Asia and France registered gains of 22 percent and 15 percent, respectively. Discussions are being actively pursued with Burberry on the creation of an operating structure for the fragrance and beauty business,” the company said in a statement.


Burberry has until July 31 to determine whether it wishes to buy out the unexpired portion of its fragrance and beauty license with Inter Parfums or continue the existing license, which runs through Dec. 31, 2017.
