TOKYO–Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. said Saturday that its chairman and chief executive officer Nobukazu Muto, 64, died on Wednesday.
Born in Tokyo in 1945, Muto entered Isetan in 1968 after graduating from Keio University. He spent most of his career in the women’s wear division before becoming a member of directors board in 1994. He became president of Isetan in 2001 and then became the chairman and ceo of Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. when Isetan and Mitsukoshi merged in 2008.
Isetan Mitsukoshi posted the news of the executive’s death on its website Saturday. The company could not be reached for further comment at press time. Isetan Mitsukoshi did not provide details of a succession plan in the release.
A funeral service for family members already took place but a memorial service will be held at a later date, the company said.
