JD.com said Wednesday it is holding a special sale of fashion, accessories and consumer goods from a selection of American brands as part of its 13th anniversary festivities.
As part of its “American Quality” campaign, the Chinese e-commerce giant is offering promotions on products from a variety of brands including Calvin Klein, Guess, Under Armour, Converse, New Balance, Steve Madden and Vans. The sale kicks off Wednesday and runs through June 20.
Promotional sales events are an important part of Chinese e-commerce players’ strategies as JD.com engages in a competitive battle with Alibaba to win over consumers.
Alibaba, JD.com’s larger rival, christened Nov. 11 “Singles’ Day” and subsequently built it into a $14.3 billion shopping extravaganza. As reported, the Securities and Exchange Commission is now taking a closer look at Alibaba’s accounting practices, including how it reports results for Singles’ Day.
