NEW YORK — John Varvatos has found a new president.

The designer named Rebecca Blair to be president of John Varvatos Enterprises. Blair was most recently vice president and general manager of sales and merchandising for Juicy Couture. Before that, she was president of Sergio Rossi. She had also held executive posts at Prada, Chanel and Tse.

Blair succeeds Peter Arnold, who became president at Varvatos in August 2005, but lasted only four months. Varvatos, who is the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, took over the president’s title in the interim. Arnold is now president of Cynthia Rowley.

At John Varvatos Enterprises, which is a partnership with VF Corp., Blair will be in charge of the wholesale and retail divisions, as well as licensing. There are five freestanding Varvatos units, in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Costa Mesa, Calif., and Short Hills, N.J.

There is no women’s collection under the John Varvatos label, although the designer makes clothes for both sexes in his Converse by John Varvatos line. Blair will work closely with Varvatos, to whom she reports, to find and build new business opportunities.
