Lattanzio was most recently senior managing director and head of Bear Growth Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm formed by Bear Stearns Merchant Banking, the predecessor of Irving Place. He has more than 23 years of experience in private equity.
“From licensing, marketing, lifestyle and research expertise to CAA’s influence in and centrality to popular culture, the opportunities are limitless for the ways in which Star can help our portfolio companies,” Lattanzio said.
Drew Baird, who is also an alumnus of Bear Growth, will serve as vice president at Star.
“We are very excited to have Paul and Drew back in the extended Irving Place family,” said John Howard, chief executive officer of Irving Place. “We look forward to working with them to successfully grow another investment business together.”
Star already has its start in that direction. The firm acquired a majority interest in the premium denim business J Brand this year and is working with its management to ramp up growth.
