Earnings at Neiman Marcus Inc. practically doubled in the quarter ended Jan. 28 to just over $40 million, from $21.03 million in the year-ago period.

 

Neiman’s revenues rose to $1.28 billion, compared to $1.17 billion in the year ago period. Comparable revenues at the Dallas-based luxury chain increased 9 percent in the quarter, which is the chain’s second of its fiscal year. Operating earnings for the second quarter were $108.7 million compared to $89.2 million for the second quarter of fiscal year 2011, an increase of 21.9 percent.
