The National Retail Federation has begun a new phase of its campaign to promote retail jobs, and raise awareness of retailing’s contribution to the national employment picture, with the launch of a job board on its Web site.

“Retail Jobs Powered by NRF” is part of NRF’s ongoing “This Is Retail: Careers, Community, Innovation” promotion launched in April. It provides member companies with the opportunity to list job openings, and candidates with the ability to apply for them, in areas including buying, merchandising, marketing, finance, technology, loss prevention and management.

All retailers can participate in the program, with NRF members receiving lower rates. Hosted by NRF, the site is operated and will be administered by JobTarget, a leading provider of sites for organizations serving niche markets.

Ellen Davis, executive director of the NRF Foundation, said the job board will offer “tangible proof that our industry offers diverse and unique career paths for some of the world’s most recognizable brands. Creating one job board for retailers to showcase the array of career opportunities that are available will help connect employers with fantastic candidates at all levels of the spectrum.”

NRF also unveiled an expanded version of its Web site, a content-based area providing research, statistics and case studies demonstrating retailing’s contribution to the U.S. economy.

According to NRF, retailers operate more than 3.6 million U.S. establishments responsible for about one in four U.S. jobs and about $2.5 trillion of annual gross domestic product.
