The conference on “The Next Great Consumer Brands” is jointly sponsored by The NASDAQ OMX Group, and will be held at the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square on March 14.
Some of the other firm presenting include Jewelry.com and Becca Cosmetics.
For Uri Minkoff, Rebecca Minkoff’s chief executive officer, the presentation is “an opportunity to tell more people about the company and the brand.”
Last year’s presenters, which included Temperley London, Ippolita and skin care firm Anthony Logistics for Men, represented a range of privately held companies deemed hot brands or among the up-and-coming firms.
Not all firms last year were looking for investors. Some use the opportunity to network, while others are exploring options for expansion. Last year’s attendees include investment bankers, hedge funds, private equity firms, venture capitalists and commercial lenders.
Michael A. O’Hara, founder and ceo of Consensus, said that a few presenting firms a year ago secured investments from attendees.
According to O’Hara, Circa, a fine jewelry buying business that increases the liquidity for the previously owned items, received an investment from Winona Capital; Newton Running Corp. secured an investment from Fireman Capital; PowerMat found an investor in Procter & Gamble, and Evolution Juice was acquired by Starbucks.
Among the keynote speakers will be Kathleen Elsesser, who co-heads the global consumer retail group in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs, and Lucy Danziger, editor in chief of Self magazine.
