Simmons will serve as a director and member of the nominating and corporate governance committee, as well as the compensation committee.
Tim Boyle, president, chief executive officer, said, “She brings a wealth of global retail experience, leadership and financial expertise that will add great value as we continue to invest in our strategic priorities.”
Boyle said the company plans to expand its global direct-to-consumer operations — an endeavor that could be aided by Simmons’ experience from Gap.
In addition, the company plans to nominate Simmons as a full-term board member during the company’s 2019 annual shareholder’s meeting.
Currently, Simmons serves as an independent board director of E.l.f. Cosmetics and as an independent board director of Williams-Sonoma. The retail veteran, who has a master’s degree in business administration from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, served as chief financial officer and executive vice president of Gap Inc. for 10 years, where she oversaw all of the company’s global finances.
