NEW YORK — Sara Lee Corp. said Friday that it is in negotiations to acquire several product lines from the consumer care division of Bayer AG, which is based in Leverkusen, Germany. The product lines include the brands, trademarks and related fixed assets of Delial sun care, Satina skin care, Quenty facial care and Natreen/Natrena tabletop sweeteners. In a statement, Sara Lee said the two companies are expected to reach an agreement in the coming months. Terms were not disclosed.
Total sales of the Bayer personal care lines were about $155 million in fiscal 1995, with more than 50 percent of revenues coming from Germany. The Chicago-based Sara Lee has annual sales of about $17.7 billion. In its latest six months, Sara Lee’s personal products division — including apparel brands such as Champion, Hanes and Bali — had sales of $3.85 billion.
